CarolinaPower Wins “Best in Class” Eagle Award at National ABC Conference in Las Vegas for Clemson Project

by Joan Krause, Senior Editor, GroundBreak Carolinas on March 12, 2025

CarolinaPower, a leading Carolinas-based electrical contractor with four offices in South Carolina, was recognized nationally by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) for its exemplary performance as electrical contractor for Clemson University’s Memorial Stadium two-phase renovation project. CarolinaPower won ABC’s highest-level of recognition – the Eagle Award – in the category, Specialty Contracting/Electrical, $2-$10 million.

CarolinaPower President Chris Moore noted, “It has been a great honor for the CarolinaPower team to be recognized regionally, and now nationally, for our role in delivering the electrical scope of this high-profile project on the Clemson campus. Teamwork was key in meeting the 9-month schedules required for each phase, and the skill and expertise of our craftsmen are evident to all who visit the updated stadium.”

Moore accepted this prestigious national award on behalf of the CarolinaPower project team during ABC’s 35th annual Excellence in Construction (EIC) gala in Las Vegas on February 26, 2025. CarolinaPower qualified for ABC’s national competition by winning the coveted Eagle Award at the ABC Carolinas chapter level last November. CarolinaPower was also a finalist for 2024 Carolinas Project of the Year.

CarolinaPower Vice President Travis Oswald, who earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from Clemson University, served as CarolinaPower’s project executive. “Of course, winning this national award is extra special for me, as an alum, and those who served on the project team, some of whom are also Clemson grads. Just as important, winning an award like this instills a feeling of pride and purpose among CarolinaPower employees company-wide,” said Oswald.

Phase One of Clemson University’s Memorial Stadium project called for a major renovation of the football stadium and build-out of the Masters Club on Clemson’s main campus. This work included additional premium seating and club spaces, fan experience upgrades, ADA accessibility and seating, renovations to the West End Zone, and a new video board – ranked the eighth largest video board in the nation. Phase Two required a complete gut and renovation of the Tigers’ locker room and updates to the training, coaching, and officials’ game day spaces. The overhaul of Lot 5, located directly behind the West End Zone complex, enhanced the Tiger Walk experience for the team and fans alike.

CarolinaPower worked with three distinct and important customers at the same time: Brasfield & Gorrie on the video board and locker room scope; Thompson Turner on the Masters Club, Lot 5, and Tiger Walk scope; and Clemson University directly on multiple small projects throughout the stadium and on the field.

About National ABC EIC Awards — National winners were selected from hundreds of entries submitted from across the country. They were judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges overcome, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety and cost. A panel of industry experts served as judges.
