Charlotte Glass Contractors Expands Footprint, Capabilities, and Technology
Charlotte Glass Contractors is growing its regional presence, adding new capabilities, expanding its teams, and opening a new office in Nashville to better serve clients across the Southeast.
Expanding Into ACM Panels
Charlotte Glass Contractors has broadened its scope of work to include architectural metal panel systems, including ACM. The addition complements the company’s core curtain wall, storefront, and glazing expertise and reflects a deliberate effort to round out their building envelope offerings.
The decision was driven largely by what general contractors are asking for. Many GCs want to bundle trades wherever they can, so they have fewer subcontractors to coordinate, schedule, and manage on a project. Facade work is a natural fit for that approach, since glazing and metal panels are installed side by side and depend on tight coordination at every interface.
“By offering both scopes under one contract, Charlotte Glass can give GCs a single point of accountability for the envelope, which reduces the risk of gaps, finger-pointing, and schedule conflicts between separate trades,” said Robert Newman, EVP of Internal Operations.
The expansion also lets them be more competitive on price. Performing the metal panel scope themselves, rather than relying on a separate subcontractor, removes a layer of markup and allows Charlotte Glass to coordinate labor, equipment, and logistics across both scopes more efficiently. Those savings can be passed along to clients, which strengthens their bids and their value to the partners they work with.
Taken together, the addition allows the company to pursue a wider range of building envelope scopes without bringing in outside subcontractors, giving clients a simpler, more accountable, and more cost-effective way to deliver the exterior of a building.
Growing Teams in Charlotte and Nashville
To support this growth, Charlotte Glass Contractors has been building out its teams in both its Charlotte headquarters and its Nashville office. Charlotte Glass has added six new team members: two Senior Project Managers and a Superintendent in Nashville, and two Senior Project Managers and an Assistant Preconstruction Manager in Charlotte. The expanded bench strengthens the company’s ability to run multiple complex projects simultaneously while maintaining the hands-on, detail-driven approach that has become its calling card.
A Diverse Project Mix: New Construction, Repositioning, and Reglazing
One of the defining features of Charlotte Glass Contractors’ recent work has been the range of project types it takes on: not just ground-up curtain wall installations, but a significant volume of repositioning and reglazing work on existing buildings. These projects come with their own set of challenges: working around occupied buildings, matching or upgrading aging systems, and often uncovering conditions in the field that don’t match the original drawings. That mix is also a strategic strength. Repositioning and reglazing work is driven by building owners’ needs rather than by new-construction starts, so it helps balance the company’s pipeline against the cyclical swings of the development market. It also positions the company well for growing demand for building envelope upgrades, as owners look to improve energy performance and bring aging facades in line with evolving energy codes.

One repositioning project completed this year was 1401 Main Street in Columbia, South Carolina, home to the City of Columbia Municipal Complex, a newly consolidated government and public service hub. Working for general contractor Mimms Contracting, Charlotte Glass reglazed and reclad the 14-story tower with new insulated glass, black anodized aluminum face caps, new pressure bar, new gaskets, metal panels, and new perimeter sealants. At street level, the team built new lobby entrances on Main and Washington Streets, including new storefront, automatic sliding doors, ballistic-rated glazing, and a metal panel canopy at the Washington Street entry.
A New but Old Office in Nashville
As part of the company’s growth, Charlotte Glass Contractors has opened a new office in the Nashville metro area. Nashville is not a new market for the company. They have been working there on and off there for the past 12 years, building relationships and a track record along the way. Over the last two-and-a-half years, however, they have made a deliberate decision to refocus on Tennessee and pour resources back into growing their presence across the state. The new office is the clearest expression of that commitment.
The metro location was chosen for two reasons. First, its central position gives the team efficient access to projects across the market rather than being tied to a single submarket. Second, it puts them close to several key neighboring general contractors. In a business built on trust and repeat relationships, being down the road from the GCs they work with makes it easier to stay involved early in preconstruction, respond quickly in the field, and be a visible partner rather than an out-of-town subcontractor.
A local office also changes what the company can offer. Having staff and resources on the ground improves responsiveness on active projects, supports stronger coordination with project teams, and strengthens their ability to recruit and retain regional talent. It also lets them pursue a wider range of opportunities, from new construction to the repositioning and reglazing work described above, with the same service and quality clients expect from their Carolinas operations.
The Nashville office extends the company’s reach beyond the Carolinas and positions it to serve clients across a broader footprint in the Southeast. It reflects a long-term view of the Tennessee market, one grounded in years of experience there and a commitment to growing alongside the partners and communities we serve.
Investing in AI Technology Across the Business
Charlotte Glass Contractors has rolled out AI across its operations team, beginning in preconstruction. Estimators use it to review bid documents and specifications for scope gaps, exclusions, and conflicts before pricing. The team also uses it to review GC subcontracts and produce standardized clarifications, so contract risk is identified up front rather than discovered mid-project. The company is applying the same approach to bid intake, preconstruction-to-operations turnover, field coordination, project documentation, and the build-out of its standard operating procedures. The result so far is greater accuracy, faster turnaround, and more consistent handoffs between departments. That gives the team more time for the technical problem-solving and coordination that protect schedule, budget, and building performance on every project.
Looking Ahead
For Charlotte Glass Contractors, it’s all about having a client-centric mindset. Phil Costantini, Director of Business Development, noted “Our growth comes down to listening to our partners. General contractors want fewer moving parts and a team they can count on, so we’ve added metal panel capabilities, brought on strong people in both Charlotte and Nashville, and put resources into the Tennessee market. Whether it’s a new curtain wall or a repositioning project on an existing building, our goal is the same: to be the envelope partner that keeps the job on schedule and on budget.”
With a broader service offering, growing teams in two markets, and new technology supporting its operations, Charlotte Glass Contractors is positioned for continued growth across the Carolinas and into Tennessee.
