Engineers Week: Tim Gause Talks about His Career Choice

by GroundBreak Carolinas Staff on February 13, 2020

The purpose of National Engineers Week (February 16–22, 2020) is to promote a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce by increasing understanding of and interest in technical careers. Tim Gause, Electrical Engineer at Design-Build firm A M King, shares the story of how he got involved in the engineering field. Based in Charlotte, Gause provides services for all three A M King offices.

“I have always been fascinated with the sciences. I have always been drawn to the power of electricity (no pun intended) and the intricacies of harnessing that power for our own purposes,” explains Gause. He says he naturally gravitated towards engineering – from grade school all the way to college at the University of South Carolina.

Gause says that working at A M King allows him to find new ways to use his knowledge each day. “I greatly enjoy working at A M King for two reasons. The first reason is seeing the result quickly. There are very few feelings as good as seeing something in the field that you conceptualized in your head, put to paper and coordinated during construction.” Gause also shares that he enjoys the variety of work at A M King and the adaptation it requires. “To properly design electrical systems, you have to know and understand what those processes and requirements entail. This means learning, and as someone who thrives on learning, nothing could be better.”

Gause joined A M King in 2016 and works on a variety of projects in the food processing, cold storage, industrial manufacturing and commercial industries.

A M King is an integrated Design-Build firm based in Charlotte, NC with offices in Greenville, SC and Chicago, IL. The firm consistently and successfully delivers quality projects throughout the United States. With an experienced team committed to protecting clients’ assets, the company provides property consulting, design and engineering, construction and facility services in the sectors of industrial manufacturing, food processing, food distribution, healthcare and commercial properties. A M King’s exemplary track record demonstrates that the company is focused on its mission to be the best in the industry.
