Gray Earns Top 15 Rankings Across 10 ENR Contractor Categories

by Brian Gallagher on September 28, 2026

Gray, a nationally recognized construction and engineering firm, earned top 15 rankings across 10 categories in Engineering News-Record‘s (ENR) latest Top Contractors rankings, reflecting the company’s continued growth across advanced technology, data centers, food & beverage, and manufacturing.

Gray's integrated design-build teams support customers from early planning through construction and operation.
Gray’s integrated design-build teams support customers from early planning through construction and operation.

Among the highlights, Gray ranked in the top ten in Food & Beverage (No. 3), Electronic Assembly (No. 4), Auto Plants (No. 5), Steel and Non-Ferrous Plants (No. 6), Industrial Process (No. 7), Manufacturing (No. 7), Semiconductors (No. 8), and Distribution & Warehouses (No. 10).

“Gray’s experience spans industries with very different needs, challenges, and ways of operating, and that range has made us a stronger company,” said Rebekah Gray, President and CEO of Gray. “To rank among the nation’s top contractors across 10 categories speaks to the depth of expertise we’ve developed throughout the company.”

Gray also climbed two spots to No. 14 among the nation’s top Data Center contractors, with $2.5 billion in revenue attributed to the sector. The rise comes amid continued investment in the infrastructure powering AI, cloud computing, and other digital services, as Gray expands its role in delivering large-scale facilities across the U.S.

“Data centers are evolving quickly in both scale and sophistication, and our teams have continued to grow alongside the market,” said Ben Burgett, Vice President, Data Center Market. “What’s meaningful about this year’s rankings is seeing that same strength reflected across so many of the industries we serve. It’s a credit to our teams and the relationships we’ve built with customers over decades.”

Gray brings decades of industrial construction experience to the data center market, combining construction management, engineering, systems integration, procurement, and self-perform capabilities to address the demanding schedules and technical requirements of today’s complex projects.

Additionally, Gray moved up six spots to No. 30 on ENR‘s Top 400 Contractors list, compared with No. 36 last year.

Together, the rankings span many of the industries driving new investment in U.S. production and infrastructure. From automotive and food production to semiconductors and data centers, Gray’s teams apply experience across markets to help customers navigate increasingly sophisticated facility needs.

Integrated Design-Build Expertise

Gray also earned national recognition for its design-build capabilities, earning the No. 25 spot among ENR‘s Top 100 Design-Build Firms. The company also ranked No. 8 among Food & Beverage design firms and No. 35 in Industrial Process design.

The rankings reflect Gray’s ability to bring design and construction together under one team, supporting customers from early planning and engineering through construction and operation. That model is particularly evident in Food & Beverage, where Gray ranked No. 3 among contractors and No. 8 among design firms, demonstrating strength on both sides of project delivery.

Across its markets, Gray combines design, engineering, construction, automation, equipment, and other capabilities to provide customers with a more connected approach from concept through completion.

ENR‘s rankings are based on revenue within each surveyed market segment.
