THS Constructors, Inc., one of the Southeast’s leading design-build and contracting companies, announces the completion and grand opening of a new manufacturing facility for Norafin Americas in Mills Creek, N.C. , near Asheville. The facility is Norafin’s first U.S. production plant and will provide 50 jobs in Mills River. The world class textile plant will produce Norafin’s innovative non-woven natural fiber products which will positively impact everything from first responders to medical devices and industrial filters.
THS Constructors worked with architecture firm, McMillan Pazdan Smith, and engineering firms, WGLA, Britt, Peters & Associates, Thomas Mechanical, and H&W Electric. The complete design and construction of the new 73,000-square-foot facility included conventional steel, with masonry and insulated metal wall panels, and was completed in 12 months.
Norafin Americas is a unit of the Norafin Group, headquartered in the German state of Saxony. They develop, produce, and sell high-performance, specialty, non-woven fabrics to buyers across the protective barrier, industrial, filtration, medical, automotive, apparel, and other technical markets.
Project Manager for THS Constructors, Andrew Webb said, “We are very excited to complete Norafin’s textile facility and U.S. Headquarters ahead of schedule and below Norafin Americas’ desired cost. The fact that this is their first production plant in the United States makes it even more special. This new facility will provide substantial jobs to the area and great products for international use. We are proud to have partnered with Norafin Americas on this venture.”
