Hill Electric Provides Scholarships for Graduating Seniors in Construction Program at ACTC

by GroundBreak Staff Report on May 26, 2022

ANDERSON, S.C. (May 26, 2022) – Hill Electric Company, a premier industrial electrical contractor based in the Upstate, provided two $500 scholarships to Anderson School Districts’ I and II Career and Technology (ACTC) graduating students pursuing a technical degree or certificate. The 2021-2022 scholarship recipients are Kailey Jo Stewart from Wren High School and Noah James Gregory from Powdersville High School.

“We are honored to support Kailey Jo and Noah James as they graduate from the Anderson School Districts’ I and II Career and Technology program and prepare for their future careers,” said David Wolke, Vice President with Hill Electric Company. “Having the opportunity to make an impact early on in a student’s life that will affect their future career choices is one of the most rewarding parts of my job, and I look forward to watching these two students excel in their studies before entering the job market in the near future.”

Understanding the need to create opportunities for future workforce development, Hill Electric takes great pride in supporting pipeline programs that introduce students in high school to future career opportunities and skilled trades. A partnership with ACTC is a perfect example of that mission; ACTC works with high school students to prepare them for successful careers and post-secondary education through quality instruction.

“The most important elements in preparing our students for careers outside of technical skills are employability, soft skills, and the awareness of the opportunities available after high school. Hill Electric has certainly helped ‘build’ the whole student,” stated Hollie Harrell, Director of ACTC. “From encouraging job skills, providing demonstrations, guest speakers, equipment and tools to student scholarships, Hill Electric has certainly assisted students in providing opportunities for success during their time at our school and after high school graduation.”

Hill Electric has supported ACTC for several years. In addition to providing scholarships to graduating seniors, the company has spoken to students, donated equipment and tools for hands-on learning, and mentored students through demonstrations and various presentations.
