Robins & Morton Celebrates Ribbon Cutting of Atrium Health Concord Freestanding Emergency Department

by GroundBreak Carolinas on June 12, 2026

Construction firm Robins & Morton celebrated the ribbon cutting of the new Atrium Health Concord Freestanding Emergency Department in Concord, North Carolina.

The 11,021-square-foot project was built entirely using modular construction. This offsite construction method produces an entire building in large modules – individual sections or units – that are then transported to the site, assembled, and finished.

This approach offers several advantages, including faster project timelines, improved quality control, reduced onsite workforce, reduced waste, and minimized site disruption. Because much of the work occurs simultaneously – site preparation and module fabrication – projects can often be completed more quickly than with traditional construction methods.

The 10-bed facility was completed in less than 10 months.

“The ribbon cutting of this facility demonstrates the power of innovation in healthcare construction,” Robins & Morton Operations Manager Marshall Scott said. “This approach allowed us to accelerate the timeline, enhance quality control, and minimize disruption to the surrounding area. We’re proud to have partnered with Atrium Health to bring this vital resource to Concord, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on patients and families for years to come.”

Robins & Morton was the general contractor for the project. Blox was the architect and manufacturer.
