SeamonWhiteside Celebrates 10 Years of Growth, Partnership, and Purpose in Summerville, SC

by GroundBreak Carolinas on June 5, 2026

SeamonWhiteside (SW+), a full-service site design firm with offices throughout the Carolinas, is celebrating 10 years of shaping the vision for  Summerville and surrounding communities. Over the past decade, the office has developed a strong regional presence in one of the fastest-growing regions of South Carolina, while helping to shape projects that improve daily life for Lowcountry residents.

What began as a small three-person office in a second-floor suite overlooking Hutchinson Square has evolved into a high-impact multidisciplinary team on North Cedar Street. From the beginning, the office remains an anchor for the community, driven by team members who live, work, and invest deeply in the Summerville area.

“Summerville is more than a place where we work. It’s home,” said Jennifer Palmer, Summerville office leader at SW+. “Many of us have lived in the Summerville area for decades, so it’s incredibly rewarding to help shape projects that improve the community for our neighbors, families, and future generations. Over the last 10 years, we’ve built pivotal relationships throughout the Lowcountry, and we’re excited to continue leading the region’s sustainable expansion.”

The Summerville office provides civil engineering, landscape architecture, land surveying, water resources, master planning, and construction administration services across a wide range of sectors, including municipal, residential, commercial, educational, and community developments. While rooted locally, the office also serves as a strategic pillar for SW+’s continued momentum and expansion across the Carolinas.

Over the past decade, the Summerville team has partnered on several landmark projects that define the Lowcountry landscape, including:

  • Ashley River Park in Dorchester County
  • Hawks Nest Park in the City of Hanahan
  • Rollins Edwards Community Center in the Town of Summerville
  • Dorchester County Library – Ashley River Branch
  • Northpoint on Jarvis Creek in the Town of Hilton Head
  • Seacoast Church in Summerville
  • North Berkeley Public Safety Complex in Berkeley County

Beyond project work, the office has prioritized community involvement and volunteerism, contributing over 50 volunteer hours in 2025 to SW+’s Green Square philanthropic initiative. The office regularly sponsors the Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce, Dorchester Habitat for Humanity, Summerville Parks Foundation, and Dorchester County Economic Development events. Team members actively support and serve organizations throughout the region, including:

  • Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce
  • Dorchester Habitat for Humanity
  • Summerville Parks Foundation
  • Dorchester County Economic Development
  • Summerville Rotary Club
  • The ARK of South Carolina
  • Katie’s Krops
  • Dorchester Paws
  • Kay Phillips Child Advocacy Center

“The growth of our Summerville office reflects the strength of the community itself,” said Russ Seamon, president of SW+. “Over the last decade, this team has played an important role in helping communities across the Lowcountry grow with intentionality while staying connected to what makes the region special. We’re proud of what the office has accomplished and look forward to continuing to invest in Summerville and the surrounding region for years to come.”

Looking ahead, the Summerville office plans to continue expanding its team while maintaining the collaborative, community-focused approach that has defined the office since its founding. The team remains focused on partnering with municipalities, developers, and community organizations to create projects that ensure a lasting legacy for the Lowcountry.
