Turner Padget Invests $1M in S.C. Businesses

by GroundBreak Staff on April 30, 2017

Turner Padget Graham & Laney, P.A. is pleased to announce the Palmetto Propeller initiative designed to help South Carolina start-up and small businesses achieve success by providing needed legal services at no cost. For nearly 90 years, Turner Padget has been serving small businesses in South Carolina, and has been a small business itself. Their lawyers know South Carolina business, and, as a full service law firm, they know how to meet small business needs with practical, straightforward advice and strategies to propel businesses forward.

“At Turner Padget, we are strong supporters of the small business community,” said R. Wayne Byrd, chief executive officer of Turner Padget. “The Palmetto Propeller project is our way of helping start-ups and small businesses and thanking them for all they do for our state, our firm, and our communities. Turner Padget has committed $1,000,000 in free legal services over five years for this project to help companies capitalize on their entrepreneurial spirit and expand.”

Interested businesses are asked to visit the website, www.palmettopropeller.com and fill out a brief information form. All applicants will be vetted to ensure that their business venture is likely to find success and that business plans are in place. From there, Palmetto Propeller members will meet with a Turner Padget attorney to discuss their business needs and goals and the appropriate strategy to achieve success. Organizations across South Carolina that help small and start-up businesses every day are serving as referral partners for the program.

“Once an applicant is approved, they will receive up to $2,500 in free legal services and help in planning the next steps of their business’ growth. This program will offer businesses the opportunity to utilize Turner Padget’s full range of legal services to answer their wide range of needs,” said Mark B. Goddard, Shareholder and chair of Palmetto Propeller. “However, the program does not end there. Turner Padget will provide participants with seminars, networking events, and other learning opportunities in the following months and years,” said Goddard.

Turner Padget sees the importance of small business and wants to give back. Julie J. Moose, shareholder in the Florence office said, “We recognize the impact that small businesses have on our economy here in the Pee Dee and Grand Strand and across the state in all of our markets. Without the small business engine, our economy would certainly struggle.”

“Our announcement of the Palmetto Propeller initiative is designed to highlight Small Business Week next week. This is a time to further support these entrepreneurs across South Carolina. We are appreciative of the various business groups, chambers of commerce, small business incubators and others who are committed to supporting small businesses and have embraced our efforts to do so,” said C. Pierce Campbell, Chief Marketing Officer for the firm.

As Turner Padget looks ahead to the milestone of 100 years serving South Carolina, they hope the Palmetto Propeller program will continue the tradition of serving clients in the modern marketplace by offering innovative and efficient solutions to our clients’ day-to-day business realities and demands.
