A Day in the Life of a Coastal N.C. Surveyor
Ever wonder what it’s like to be a surveyor? Keegan Lumley of Stewart’s Wilmington, N.C. office gives us a first-hand account.
Born and raised in Swansboro, N.C., Lumley has called coastal North Carolina home his entire life. Since 2019, Keegan has worked at Stewart as a Geomatics Field Supervisor. Although rewarding, coastal surveying comes with unique challenges, like adapting to the constant changing tides and following preservation regulations put in place by the NC Division of Coastal Management.
“I developed a love for this area that has only grown stronger as I age,” said Lumley. “The City of Wilmington, the beaches, the people, it is a historical and beautiful place to live. Getting to work here is just a bonus.”
