ABC Carolinas Celebrates 25th Anniversary, 2023 Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards at Gala
Associated Builders and Contractors Carolinas Chapter (ABC Carolinas) honored over 70 projects collectively worth $1.6 billion at the 25th annual ABCC Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards Gala on November 9, 2023. The ABC EIC Program is the industry’s leading competition that honors both general and specialty contractors for innovative and high-quality Merit Shop construction projects.
“The ABC Excellence in Construction Awards showcases the renowned dedication to safety and quality from our members on their projects throughout the Carolinas and surrounding area. We were thrilled to have a record number project submissions that received EIC awards this year,” said Kristen Powell, CEO and President of ABC Carolinas Chapter.
Project of the Year | General Contractor and Specialty Contractor Winners
The top honor of the Excellence in Construction Awards is the Project of the Year Award presented to a General Contractor and a Specialty Contractor member. To earn this prestigious award, contractors must demonstrate a superior level of performance in all aspects of judging. Rodgers Builders was honored with the General Contractor Project of the Year Award for the First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte Restoration and Renovations located in Charlotte, NC. Adams Electric was honored with the Specialty Contractor Project of the Year Award for the Novant Health Ballantyne Medical Center and MOB located in Charlotte, NC. Exclusive Special Awards
A M King received the ABC Carolinas Design-Build Award for the Aldi Loxley Regional Headquarters & Distribution Center located in Loxley, Alabama.
Rodgers Builders was honored with the ABC Carolinas Best in BIM (Building Information Technology) Award for the Atrium Health Pineville – Palmetto Bed Tower located in Pineville, North Carolina.

All Excellence in Construction (EIC) Winners
ABC Carolinas presented 31 Eagle Awards, 26 Merit Awards, and 13 Honorable Mention Awards this year. The awards recognize all construction team members on each project, including the contractor, owner, architect, and engineer. The winning projects, selected from entries submitted from ABC members located in North Carolina and South Carolina, were judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges overcome, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety and cost.
