ABC of the Carolinas Announces 2021 Board of Directors
Charlotte, NC — ABC of the Carolinas (ABC Carolinas) is pleased to announce its 2021 Board of Directors. Four board members are based in South Carolina with the remainder located in North Carolina. Derek Lanning of JE Dunn Construction has been elected 2021 Chair, representing more than 300 member firms in North and South Carolina.
“On behalf of the ABC Carolinas staff, I want to welcome the new 2021 board members as well as those who are returning for another term. Because our members are so heavily involved in the ongoing economic prosperity of both Carolinas, it’s important to have a Board that reflects our membership well in terms of type of business and geographic location,” said Amy Sullivan Hicks, ABC Carolinas President and CEO. “With guidance from the Board, we will continue to implement our strategic plan – working hand-in-hand with our members to help them to grow their businesses, develop their workforce, and contribute to their local communities in a positive fashion.”
The 2021 ABC Carolinas Board consists of 16 members representing all facets of the construction industry in North Carolina and South Carolina.
“ABC Carolinas has strategically grown through a very difficult year for industry organizations. With 2020 almost behind us, the path laid out by our new President, Amy Hicks, is an aggressive one that focuses on continued member engagement and benefit. We have been able to safely gather our members across the Carolinas, albeit in smaller groups, to provide that critical pathway for networking and relationship growth,” said Derek Lanning. “As the industry has been deemed essential, ABC Carolinas is committed to developing the future workforce through our apprenticeship and training programs. The strain on resources of our member firms and industry at large will be a big issue for 2021. ABC Carolinas has been and will continue to be the trusted source for making connections through all facets of your changing business, from workforce development and safety training to government affairs and legislation reviews,” he added.

· Dave Knudson of Choate Construction for his 8 years of service to ABCC and for leading us through 2020 and our unprecedented times as Board Chair.
· Casie Sears of Sears Contracting for serving as ABCC Board Chair during 2018 and 2019. Her six years of overall service has been invaluable.
· Art Odom of David Allen Company for serving on our Board, including a term as Board Chair, for a total of 16 years. He has brought much wisdom to our organization.
· Ryan Wathen of Rodgers Builders for his dedication to ABCC and to ABC National for 13 years.
· Eric Perkinson of Brasfield & Gorrie for his continued support of ABCC for 9 years; and
· Ken Peeples of McGriff Insurance for serving ABCC for 6 years.
