Anchored in Trust: Harper’s Next Step on the South Carolina Coast

by Zara Head, Harper General Contractors on February 9, 2026

Growth along the South Carolina coast has long been a part of Harper General Contractors’ long-term vision, and that vision is taking a visible step forward. With the expansion of our office in Summerville, Harper is strengthening its roots in the Lowcountry and creating a home base for our growing team of construction professionals who live, work, and serve the Charleston region every day. As part of this expansion, both our commercial and environmental systems construction teams will be serving the SC Coast. Leading these efforts are two team members already deeply connected to the region.

For commercial construction operations, Alex Houck has relocated from the Upstate to lead our team, bringing his client-first mindset, managing each assignment with care and accountability. His ability to anticipate challenges early and help owners make informed decisions has made him a trusted partner on complex assignments, including Pontiac Elementary School, a CMAA award-winning education project. Beyond the jobsite, Alex remains actively involved in the community through his volunteer work with Young Life, continuing a long-standing commitment to investing in the next generation.

Recently recognized as Engineering News-Record’s Top Young Professional for 2025, Anthony Taylor continues to lead Harper’s Environmental Systems Division (ESD) along the coast. His team focuses on critical water and wastewater projects that help communities grow sustainably while protecting vital local resources. Anthony shared, “Expanding our office and team on the coast allows us to better serve clients from Savannah to Wilmington. It’s exciting to grow our presence in a region we live in, work in, and care deeply about, and to make a greater impact in the communities we call home.”

To support our business development efforts, Adam Lawrence has relocated to the coast. Having built lasting relationships with clients and partners throughout the Upstate, Adam now brings that same relationship-first approach to the Charleston area. His presence in the Lowcountry allows Harper to stay connected to both existing and new clients, better understand local needs, and remain actively involved in the community. “This move to the coast marks an exciting new beginning for Harper and me,” shared Adam. “I’m passionate about growing our Lowcountry presence, staying deeply connected to our Upstate roots, and providing that trusted, relationship-driven support no matter where our clients are.” By maintaining strong ties in the Upstate while expanding on-the-ground support in Charleston, Adam ensures clients receive consistent, relationship-driven support across both regions.

With Adam’s relocation, Carsen Landreth has assumed the role of ESD Business Development Lead in the Upstate, ensuring a seamless transition and continued client support. Carsen shares that, “As an Upstate South Carolina native, I’m truly excited to join the ESD team and continue with the strong legacy Harper has built in our community. I look forward to working hands-on with our clients and delivering critical projects as a trusted partner. Client needs and the relationships we build together will always come first.” Carsen brings a fresh perspective to the region while continuing to strengthen Harper’s Upstate client relationships.

As the Lowcountry continues to grow, Harper’s focus remains simple: build trust with our people, invest in our passions, and pursue projects that align with our purpose. Whether partnering on a future project, exploring career opportunities, or looking for ways to give back alongside the Harper team, the company looks forward to building what comes next.
