Balfour Beatty US Names Pat Dean COO in the Carolinas and Georgia
Balfour Beatty US has announced the promotion of Pat Dean to chief operating officer for the Carolinas and Georgia operations, and the promotion of Scott Skidelsky to chief operating officer in Florida. In their new roles, both Dean and Skidelsky are responsible for executive oversight, project acquisition and business growth across their respective geographies. In addition, Skidelsky retains his national leadership responsibilities for Balfour Beatty’s business acquisition, strategic procurement and communications, while Dean remains responsible for the company’s military housing operations across the country.

Now, with the creation of these new COO roles, Scott and Pat have the experience and expertise to enable our teams to maximize the opportunities we see in these geographies.”
Skidelsky has spent more than two decades in the construction industry in a wide variety of leadership positions, serving clients across the United States throughout his career. Well known for his unique ability to connect with and inspire teammates from all facets of the business, Skidelsky is a Building Design + Construction “Forty Under 40” alumni and was named “Man of the Year” among the “Forty Under 40” winners by the Orlando Business Journal in 2007.
Prior to his career in construction, Skidelsky served in the United States Navy as an Officer in Charge of Construction and as a Contracting Officer. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in General Engineering from the University of Illinois.
Dean joined Balfour Beatty in 2006 as a vice president and business unit leader for the Carolinas business. His strong operational and strategic leadership resulted in significant growth in both the private and public markets. Under his leadership as president of the Carolinas, Balfour Beatty grew to become the largest general contractor in North Carolina and the third largest contractor in South Carolina.
With 25 years of construction industry experience, Dean continuously demonstrates a high level of performance with teams, clients and partners. Dean is a graduate of Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in construction management.
