Brian King Shares National and Regional Perspective on 2022
What are you most concerned about for 2022?
While it may seem unlikely to many, I believe we are headed for a slight recession in the next 12-18 months. My reasoning is that inflationary forces, combined with the high demand we have experienced over the past two years, will result in a slight pull-back by corporate America in the investment of facility expansion and growth. However, I do believe that the Carolinas are well positioned to weather any recessionary forces better than the rest of the country. The record number of individuals moving into the Carolinas, our business-friendly atmosphere, and our relatively low cost of living will continue to be a catalyst to grow our market. That said, I think we will still feel the recession in our markets, most likely in the form of increased competition among AEC firms and possibly lower profit margins.
