CarolinaPower Donates 75 Turkeys to Help Feed Upstate South Carolina’s Homeless
CarolinaPower, together with its sister companies in the PPC Partners family, set a lofty goal early in the year to collectively perform at least “75 acts of kindness” in 2022 – part of a companywide, year-long celebration marking 75 years in business.
Chris Moore, president of CarolinaPower, is quick to point out that the company’s culture is centered on having a servant’s heart, golden rule thinking, and focusing on the needs of others. Employees at all four CarolinaPower locations – Greenville, Columbia, Charleston and North Augusta – strive to be a positive influence in the communities they serve.
“With the holiday season upon us, we chose Miracle Hill Ministries in the Upstate region of South Carolina as the beneficiary of our signature “act of kindness” for this milestone anniversary year,” said CarolinaPower’s Madison Younginer, business development executive.
Each year, Miracle Hill prepares a Thanksgiving feast for more than 5,000 homeless and hungry adults and children in Miracle Hill’s shelters and impoverished families throughout the Upstate community. With the help of local radio hosts Ellis & Bradley, and donations from the public, volunteers get together the Tuesday before Thanksgiving to fry and smoke more than 600 turkeys at South Carolina’s largest turkey fry event. This year marked the 16th Annual Ellis & Bradley Turkey Fry to benefit Miracle Hill Ministries.
“We wanted to do something extra special for our neighbors in need this year in honor of our milestone anniversary. With that in mind, CarolinaPower decided to donate 75 frozen turkeys – one for every year in business,” explained Younginer. “It took some planning to secure, pick up and deliver 75 frozen turkeys, but thankfully we did not encounter any major logistical challenges.”
Miracle Hill has many ways for the public to help during the holiday season and beyond. Items can be purchased year-round from their Amazon Wish list with delivery directly to their administrative office. Financial contributions are also welcome. For more information, visit miraclehill.org.
