CarolinaPower Supports SkillsUSA South Carolina Competition
SkillsUSA is a nonprofit national education association dedicated to ensuring that America has a skilled workforce. The organization focuses on middle-school, high-school and college/postsecondary students preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations.
CarolinaPower was among a select group of Corporate Partners for the 2025 SkillsUSA South Carolina statewide competition, specifically the Electrical Construction Wiring segment within the Construction category of the multi-sector event. CarolinaPower supported three high school seniors from Lexington Technology Center (LTC) in Columbia – all 2024 interns with the firm – by equipping them with PPE and tools for competition.
Matt Johnson, CarolinaPower project manager, served as a judge for the Electrical Construction Wiring segment, which drew 16 competitors from across the state. In addition to his judging duties, Johnson monitored the students during the construction phase. The top three student contenders in the Electrical Construction Wiring segment qualified for the upcoming SkillsUSA regional competition.
The SkillsUSA South Carolina student competition was held at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds in Columbia on Tuesday, March 4, during the organization’s State Leadership and Skills Conference.
