Carolinas CAGC Salutes Two Industry Leaders, Ricky Vick and Mike Long as they Retire
Carolinas AGC congratulates two of its hard-working industry leaders, Ricky Vick with S. T. Wooten Corp., and Mike Long with Buckeye Bridge, LLC, as they transition into well-deserved retirements after decades of service to the construction industry.
Ricky’s service included chairing the CAGC Highway-Heavy Division, serving on the CAGC/NCDOT Roadway committee, Joint committee, National AGC Southeast AASHTO, AGC, ARTBA and National Work Zone Safety committees, and was the CAGC representative on the North Carolina Sedimentation Control Commission.
“Ricky is the epitome of an active member, serving on many committees, always willing to contribute and in many times on short notice whether with the legislature or NCDOT,” said Berry Jenkins, retired Director of CAGC’s NC Highway-Heavy Division.
Victor Barbour, current Highway-Heavy Director echoes those sentiments, “Ricky always was always willing to serve, looked to enhance our industry and during my time with NDOT was always one of my ‘go-to’ folks to get input on matters that would affect contractors.”
Ricky would like to thank all the staff, past and present, at CAGC for all their hard work on behalf of the construction industry in North Carolina over the years. “I would like to offer a special thanks to my close friend, Berry Jenkins, who not only did such a great job for the Highway Division at CAGC but was very instrumental in helping me in my various roles while working with CAGC. I would also like to offer thanks to everyone that I have interacted with in the industry over the years. I have learned so much from my association with so many great people. Your knowledge, help, and guidance benefited me greatly during my professional career. This includes staff at NC DOT, owners, contractors, engineers, and especially the great people at S. T. Wooten. From Mr. Wooten, to Seth Wooten and Nancy Hammock, to Chris Wooten and William Hammock, along with all the other great people at S. T. Wooten who have helped and guided me along the way I cannot thank you enough. Even more important than everyone’s help has been your friendship over the years. That friendship will last a lifetime. I wish everyone the best in the future and God Bless.”
Also, after a dedicated career in the construction industry, Mike Long with Buckeye Bridge, LLC will retire at year’s end. Along with serving as CAGC Board Chair in 2010, Mike’s service also included CAGC Highway-Heavy Division Chair and numerous positions on CAGC/NCDOT committees including the Joint committee and the Structure committee.
“Mike was an active member, serving on many committees, and was always willing to contribute” said Berry Jenkins. Victor Barbour echoed those sentiments, “Mike was always willing to serve, and looked for ways to improve our industry.”
Dave Simpson, CAGC President & CEO, said of the two CAGC leaders: “It’s been an honor over several decades to work closely with Ricky Vick and Mike Long, two construction industry giants who make us all proud and we wish them the best of luck.”
CAGC thanks both men for their service and we wish them much joy in retirement!
