Choate Construction Adds Interior Construction Division in Raleigh

Commercial construction firm Choate Construction Company has added a new interior division in Raleigh. Jim Baker will lead the Choate Interior Construction. The firm has completed several interior construction projects throughout the Triangle area including projects for Network Appliance, Qlik Technologies, Duke Medicine, UNC Hospitals, as well as numerous renovations within the historic Carolina Inn.

“In the last 15 years, Choate’s Raleigh office has completed over 165 interior construction projects that we are very proud of,” said Dave Knudson, Choate Raleigh’s Vice President and Division Manager. “Leveraging that experience, along with that of our interior construction groups in Charlotte and Atlanta, Choate Interior Construction in Raleigh will provide specialized, focused construction solutions for this market’s demand. Jim Baker’s experience, coupled with our existing talent, will result in outstanding service the interior construction needs of the Triangle area.”

Choate Interior Construction Company is a dedicated construction group with a team dedicated solely to interiors construction and special projects. Choate Raleigh joins the successful Atlanta and Charlotte Interior Construction divisions; Choate’s Savannah office opened an interior division in February. Choate Interior Construction Company is consistently noted for leading the interior construction industry and is ranked the #1 Interiors/Tenant Improvements Contractor by Engineering News Record Southeast.

Q North Carolina native and 26-year construction veteran, Jim Baker has extensive experience in the local interiors industry spanning his entire career. With Undergraduate and Bachelor of Architecture degrees from North Carolina State University as well as a Master of Building Construction from the University of Florida, Jim’s diverse background and widespread industry knowledge allows him to tackle the most challenging interior construction projects and serve as an expert resource in a variety of market sectors.

Choate Interior Construction’s team of construction professionals will provide dedicated services that address the nuances of this market sector, such as construction in occupied spaces, accelerated schedules, and unique partnerships with specialty subcontractors and vendors. Choate Interior Construction provides a full range of interior construction services to small businesses, first-time builders, corporate clients, law firms, national and regional retailers, and restaurant groups.

Backed by the resources of Choate Construction, the team assists clients in all phases of interior upfits, renovations, and expansions. The company has the capability to assess lease terms and conditions from a builder’s perspective and conduct an existing conditions survey. The team will review design documents for design intent, constructability, as well as means and methods, while also providing conceptual budgeting, LEED certification services, quantitative estimating, life-cycle reviews, and cost-benefit analysis.
