Construction Executive Announces Candidacy for Mayor
Todd Horne, vice president of business development for Spartanburg, SC-based Clayton Construction has announced his candidacy for Mayor of Spartanburg. Horne told supporters he will seek to make Spartanburg a place where people can live, work and play.
“This will give leadership from every part of the city the opportunity to meet with me on a regular basis to make sure your voices are heard and that we are prioritizing the things that are important to your neighborhoods,” Horne said during his announcement at Spartanburg’s Harvest Park. “Each area of the city has unique needs and requires unique attention and unique solutions.”
Current Spartanburg Mayor Junie White has not announced his plans for seeking another term. The election will take place in November.
Horne attended the University of South Carolina Upstate, where he was named a distinguished alumnus. He also served as the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman. He resigned his chairman position with Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce on Monday to focus on his mayoral run. He is active in several civic and church groups. The election for Spartanburg Mayor will take place in November of 2017.
