Dave Simpson Wins AENC James J. Lowry Award for Outstanding CEO
Carolinas AGC President and CEO Dave Simpson was honored this week by the Association Executives of North Carolinas (AENC) with the 2018 AENC James J. Lowry Award for Outstanding CEO.
This award—the highest honor the AENC gives out — reflects remarkable leadership and achievement in association management. “Outstanding” executives serve AENC, their industry, participate extensively in civic and community affairs, and exhibit a lifelong well-established commitment to the profession.
“Dave took over the reins of our organization during a very difficult time in the industry and in our association. We were still reeling from the Great Recession and people were skeptical about the future of CAGC. Dave’s positive attitude, personal relationships with members and staff, and unique leadership skills were the perfect combination to bring our CAGC family back together. Under Dave’s leadership, we have truly righted the ship and are now on a course for success,” said CAGC Board Chair Paul Mashburn, of Mashburn Construction.
Prior to Dave becoming the CAGC President and CEO in October 2014, he served the organization for nearly 25 years as North Carolina Building Director and lobbyist. He has been married for 40 years to his wife Denise, a schoolteacher at Ravenscroft School in Raleigh, and they have three adult children, Ben, a lawyer in Raleigh, Maggie, a social worker in Raleigh, and Emily, a sales exec in Charlotte.
AENC honored Dave at its Annual Meeting in Greenville, NC on Monday, July 23.
