Dixon Hughes Goodman Leaders and Veterans Ring the NASDAQ Closing Bell to Honor Military Personnel with Veterans on Wall Street at the July 4th Holiday

by Dixon Hughes Goodman on July 4, 2019

Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP (DHG), a U.S. top 20 public accounting and advisory firm, is pleased to announce that its Risk Advisory professionals participated in the July 3rd ringing of the Nasdaq closing bell on behalf of Veterans on Wall Street (VOWS™). William “Bill” Rogers, Principal, and Ben Boulris, Senior Manager, rang the bell with approximately 30 financial services professionals representing various VOWS member companies in celebration of the July 4holiday.

“We appreciate our friends at Nasdaq for providing an opportunity for VOWS to share its story in such a memorable way,” said Bill Rogers, DHG Risk Advisory Principal and Army veteran who served active duty from 1994 to 1999 and in the Army Reserves from 1999 to 2004. “The VOWS’ mission centers around the recognition that the military teaches skills such as leadership, quick decision making, commitment and focus which are all highly transferable skills for careers on Wall Street. DHG shares this vision, and we are proud to be part of this esteemed group.”

VOWS is a consortium of approximately 100 financial services firms dedicated to honoring former and current military personnel by facilitating career and business opportunities in the financial services industry. The organization achieves this through a combination of educational initiatives, mentoring, outreach to the military, employee affinity groups and an annual conference.

“As a veteran, working for a firm that is dedicated to an inclusive culture where military veterans are valued, retained and advanced at all levels – this means a great deal to me,” said Ben Boulris, DHG Risk Advisory Senior Manager and a Navy veteran who served active duty from 1998 to 2004 and in the Navy Reserves from 2004 to 2006. “Ringing the closing Nasdaq bell and helping to spread that message with our VOWS counterparts is a great honor.”

DHG has established an internal common interest group, DHG V.E.T.S. (Veterans Engagement and Talent Search), to build on cultural assimilation, share networking opportunities to grow professionally and provide access to firmwide programs for skill development. DHG V.E.T.S. includes veterans at every level within the firm, all of whom have shown exemplary service to their country and their clients, as well as other DHG team members interested in supporting veterans across the firm and learning more about the challenges they may face. A Life at DHG blog recognizing the work of DHG V.E.T.S. and a unique website to recruit veterans illustrate DHG’s commitment to this group.
