Don Warren Retires from Omega Construction
Omega Construction, Inc. announces the retirement of Don Warren, a nationally respected leader in the construction industry and the executive who launched Omega’s Upstate South Carolina office in 2022. Don officially retired from daily operations at the end of July, concluding a distinguished career spanning nearly 50 years.
Warren is widely recognized for his pioneering leadership in the design-build and industrial sectors. With a more than 30-year legacy of successful design-build project delivery throughout the Southeast, he helped shape how modern integrated construction is delivered. In 2024, he was honored with the Brunelleschi Lifetime Achievement Award by the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA)—the organization’s highest individual honor—for his outstanding contributions to the advancement of integrated project delivery nationwide.
A true trailblazer in the industry, Warren was one of the five founding members who launched DBIA in 1993 and was among the first in the nation to be certified as a Design-Build Professional in 2002. In 2018, he was the only nominee from the Carolinas inducted into the inaugural class of DBIA Certified Fellows. He has faithfully served as a national DBIA instructor, helping guide the next generation of design-build professionals.
“Don has been a leader, a mentor and a visionary for the industry,” said Barry Hennings, CEO of Omega Construction. “He brought a wealth of expertise—particularly in design-build and industrial construction—that elevated our goals for the Upstate region. We’re grateful for the legacy he leaves behind.”
Prior to joining Omega, Don served in a variety of executive and leadership roles at nationally recognized construction firms, helping shape some of the Southeast’s most complex industrial, commercial and manufacturing projects. His influence extended beyond individual companies: Don was instrumental in championing the adoption of design-build practices long before they became standard in the industry. He also served in numerous leadership capacities within DBIA, mentoring professionals and advocating for collaborative delivery models that improve outcomes for clients and communities alike.
Since joining Omega, Don has built a foundation for the company’s presence in the Upstate. With David Ledford now in place to lead the Greenville-based office, Don leaves behind a thriving team built on trust, innovation and operational excellence.
