by GroundBreak Staff Report on July 21, 2020

ECS is pleased to announce Derek Clyburn, PE has been promoted to Subsidiary President of ECS Southeast, LLP.

Clyburn succeeds Steve Gosselin, PG who will take on the role of Executive Vice President supporting Clyburn and the Southeast Management Team in day to day operations, business development efforts, expanding the Subsidiary National and Regional Accounts Program, and developing a corporate mentoring program.

“I’m excited about Derek taking the lead for ECS Southeast,” says Gosselin. “I’ve worked with him for more than 25 years and he has the energy, passion, leadership skills and experience to take the subsidiary to the next level. He is committed to the success of our people and our clients, and that commitment will take us to new heights.”

“I am both incredibly humbled and excited to be entrusted to follow in the footsteps of such a titan. As President of ECS Southeast, we will continue to build upon the foundation of success that has been cast,” says Clyburn. “Our mission of expanding our capacity and presence to better serve our clients by recruiting and retaining the best people in the industry remains unchanged.  Our priorities continue to be serving our clients as trusted advisors, maintaining laser focus on maximizing growth opportunities in our existing markets and blazing new trails by both organic growth and strategic acquisitions. It is an honor and a privilege to lead ECS Southeast and to continue providing its diverse group of talented staff with prodigious professional and personal growth opportunities as we move forward to the next level of success.”

A member of the ECS team since 1997, Clyburn brings over 25 years of experience in geotechnical and construction materials engineering, special inspections and environmental services. He received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Clemson University and Master of Business Administration from University of Tennessee. Clyburn is actively involved with many regional and state professional organizations and has served in many board level positions. He most recently served as President for the American Council of Engineering Companies of North Carolina and now serves as its National Director.

Gosselin joined the ECS team in 1996 as Principal Geologist and served as Director of Business Development, Branch Manager, Regional Manager and Subsidiary President. Under his leadership, ECS Southeast grew from 280 employees in three states to over 600 employees in seven states including two acquisitions. Gosselin received his Bachelor of Science in Geology from Texas A&M University.
