Giving Back: CAGC Young Leaders Give Makeover to Catherine’s House, Transitional Housing for Homeless
The Carolinas Associated General Contractors (CAGC) Young Leaders (YL) arrived at Catherine’s House on Friday, September 21, to do some much needed updates in multiple rooms in the house. Catherine’s House is a non-profit organization serving North and South Carolina that provides transitional housing to women and mothers with children who are homeless. Located in Belmont, North Carolina, near Charlotte, Catherine’s House is a sponsored ministry and subsidiary corporation of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, South Central Community.
Volunteers from WB Moore Company, McGriff Insurance Services, State Utility Contractors, Marsh & McLennan Agency, Catalyst Surety Partners, and Blythe Construction, Inc. were able to accomplish painting in the welcome room, volunteer reception room, and a large bedroom that will soon be occupied by a new family. The group also moved newly donated furniture into the welcome room and added some fresh new wall art throughout the house. The Catherine’s House “makeover” was made possible by donations from New South Construction Supply, Inc., WB Moore Company, and Rodgers Builders.
“The impact that the CAGC Young Leaders continue to make our mission is incredible. The room renovations that they completed are all very important to our efforts of creating a calming environment for our residents. The rooms help us to visually display the love and empowerment that we demonstrate to them through our program every day. For our residents, many of whom have come from violent, abusive pasts, a calm environment is critical to the healing process. We are truly grateful for their service and their passion for our mission.” Ed Paat, President & CEO of Catherine’s House.
