Giving Back: CAGC Young Leaders Participate in Columbia Habitat Build
The Carolinas Associated General Contractors (CAGC) Young Leaders (YL) recently participated in two Habitat Builds in Columbia, S.C. The CAGC YL group was assigned the task of building and installing three sets of outside stairs and railings for two homes.
“Throughout the day we learned so much about Habitat for Humanity and the other opportunities for us to get involved and help in their mission” said Traci Griswold, office manager for Eldeco, Inc. Traci’s teammates included Kristen Levy and Lindsay Wallace of Palmetto Corp. and Zach Wooten of State Utility Contractors, Inc.
Chelsea Andujar, CAGC’s Director of Meetings and Events – and staff liaison for the YL program, organized the effort with the Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity.
The next YL “giving back” event is set for September when a team from Greater Charlotte will be updating a resident’s room at Catherine’s House, a non-profit organization that provides transitional housing to women and mothers with children who are homeless. Located in Belmont, N.C., Catherine’s House is a sponsored ministry and subsidiary corporation of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, South Central Community. Last December, as part of their annual Spreading the Joy Initiative, the CAGC YL adopted more than a dozen families residing at Catherine’s House.
Industry professionals 40 years old and younger who are employed by CAGC member firms are eligible to participate in the YL program.
