HCAC Celebrates 10 Years in the Carolinas
The Hispanic Contractors Association of the Carolinas (HCAC) celebrated its 10 year anniversary with a sold out gala at the Embassy Suites Raleigh-Durham Airport on July 21. The HCAC Gala and Brilliance Awards is an annual awards ceremony that has made an impact in the construction industry of the Carolinas. The main purpose of this gathering was to recognize the support of all members and stakeholders who have been working closely with HCAC, proving how beneficial this organization is for the minority business community of the Carolinas and to the construction industry as a whole.
The evening began with a welcome from Renee Jones, President of the Board of Directors and creative initiator of the Brilliance Awards six years ago. To kick off the evening she said, “Minority contractors and the construction community are ready to join forces to celebrate diversity and recognize the best in the industry.” Immediately after Matty Lazo-Chadderton from Governor Cooper’s office shared a Proclamation recognizing the importance of the HCAC and its members over the past ten years in the Carolinas.
The winners of the 2017 HCAC Brilliance Awards are:
Trade Contractor of the Year: Concept Dumpsters, Inc.

The event provided founding sponsors and members the opportunity to celebrate accomplishments and engage newcomers. Keynote speaker, Pegine Echevarria, was a ball of energy and engaged the audience with her “Know It, Own It, Share It” motivational message. Pegine shared moments from her own journey as a minority and female small business owner and connected with the small business owners in the audience. Another highlight of the night was the opportunity to award Gilberto Sucre with CIC with the sponsorship of a business program at Tuck School of Business, provided by Novant Health.
HCAC thanks all supporters for making this event possible and for adding outstanding value to our cause. For more event information, visit us at hcacarolinas.org
