Linnell Stanhope Honored with DBIA’s National Distinguished Leadership Award
Crowder Construction’s Linnell Stanhope, based in the company’s Triangle office, was honored by the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) with the 2023 Distinguished Leadership Award during the association’s Annual Design-Build Conference held November 2-4, 2023 in Washington, D.C.
DBIA recognized Stanhope for being a driving force in promoting, educating and influencing the adoption of design-build practices across the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions for the past three decades. Stanhope and the other two winners of the national award were nominated by their peers and judged on their achievements in furthering the understanding and use of design-build.
Crowder President B.J. Christman, DBIA, noted, “This is such a great honor for Linnell. She has helped shape the collaborative delivery practice for Crowder and supported the overall industry throughout the Southeast and the Mid-Atlantic Regions for many years. Her focus on education and the needs of clients first has allowed her to become a trusted advisor to many, myself included. This is a well-deserved award for one of the best in our industry.”
In their announcement, DBIA wrote, “Stanhope is unwavering in her dedication to design-build. In 2010, she worked with DBIA to develop and enact North Carolina Legislation enabling design-build. She was awarded the prestigious Select Society of Sanitary Sludge Shovelers (5S) award in 2019 from NC One Water, honoring her contributions to the industry. As a founding member of the DBIA Carolinas Chapter and the DBIA Central Virginia Chapter, Stanhope has played a crucial part in influencing the future of design-build in these regions and continues to serve on the Boards and Committees of DBIA National and Local Chapters.”
