McCrory Construction Delivering Manufacturing Project for Scott Bader, Inc. in Mocksville, NC
McCrory Construction, South Carolina’s oldest general contractor, announced that it has begun construction on a production facility for Scott Bader in Mocksville, NC. Founded in England more than a century ago, Scott Bader provides business, industry and consumers with innovative composite, structural adhesive and functional polymer products. The employee-owned global manufacturer produces materials that are behind many successful product brands that people rely on every day.
Last year, Scott Bader North America made a significant investment in North Carolina when they acquired a 110,000-square-foot industrial shell building in Mocksville. Their intention was to transform this property into a state-of-the-art gelcoat and structural adhesives manufacturing facility — their first production site in the U.S. to manufacture these specific products.
“We appreciate that Scott Bader chose McCrory as their contractor for this assignment, one reason being our expertise in delivering logistically difficult and complex industrial projects in the Carolinas,” explained Stephen Cooper, Director of Greenville (SC) Operations for McCrory Construction.
Scott Bader Mocksville, the company’s second North American manufacturing site, is designed to meet Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. In addition to manufacturing, the facility comprises designated areas for distribution, R&D, material storage and racking, and two levels of office space. The project includes a tank farm to house explosive raw material, as well as a cold storage component.
The project is on track for completion in the First Quarter of 2023. The owner’s representative is Playbook Management of Charlotte, NC. The architect is WGM Design, Inc., also of Charlotte.
