McShane Breaks Ground on 300-unit Apartment Community in Charlotte, North Carolina

by GroundBreak Carolinas Staff on July 21, 2021

McShane Construction Company is underway with IBM Drive Apartments in Charlotte, North Carolina. The new 300-unit development is under construction on behalf of repeat client RangeWater Real Estate. In April, McShane completed construction of The Archer in Acworth, Georgia, for RangeWater.

“We are excited to work on another project for our highly valued partners at RangeWater,” stated Scott Hoppa, Senior Vice President & Regional Manager at McShane. “We have built nearly 1,000 units in Georgia for RangeWater over the past three years and look forward to delivering our first project for them in North Carolina.”

The development sits on a 28-acre site and includes three multi-story wood-framed garden-style apartment buildings and a central clubhouse. In addition, residents will enjoy nearly 10,000 square feet of amenity space, including an outdoor pool and a dog park.

Each well-appointed unit will feature granite and quartz countertops, luxury vinyl tile flooring and stainless steel appliances.

Conveniently positioned near the intersection of West W.T. Harris Boulevard and IBM Drive, the development offers immediate access to I-85 and is just minutes from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Numerous dining and retail amenities also surround the site.

McShane provided pre-construction services for IBM Drive Apartments. By getting involved during the project’s planning phase, McShane provides cost estimating, value engineering, and constructability reviews that help prevent unforeseen costs or schedule overruns.

Construction of IBM Drive Apartments will wrap up in March 2023. The architect of record is Poole & Poole Architecture.
