Meet 2023 Board of Directors for NAWIC-Charleston

by GroundBreak Carolinas Staff Report on December 8, 2022

The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Palmetto Chapter of Charleston, South Carolina, has announced its 2022/2023 Board of Directors. Led by Joanie Allen of New South Construction Supply, the group is composed of both new and familiar faces that remain committed to the excellence NAWIC Palmetto is known for.

The 2022/2023 Board – NAWIC Palmetto Chapter #385

President – Joanie Allen – New South Construction Supply
Vice President – Allison Crotty, RRC, REWC, FMPC
Treasurer – Carmen Quinney – First Capital Bank
Recording Secretary – Caroline Whigham – Terracon
Corresponding Secretary – Avonlea Denney – HITT Construction

Director – Sam Kolner – Prime Structured Cabling, LLC
Director – Paula Stubblefield, CIC, CISR, AIAM, CPIW, DAE – C.T. Lowndes Insurance Company
Director – Kimberly Kirk – Bonitz, Inc.
Immediate Past President – Amanda Redick, MSc, PMP – HDR, Inc.

Joanie Allen noted, “We have big plans for this next year, and I am honored to serve as President. We are finally out of the pandemic; however, we still have challenges ahead. One being our workforce and the labor shortage we are currently facing. Now is the time to be involved with schools and colleges to introduce and give knowledge on what a career in the construction field looks like. We have made strides in the past and we will continue to do so through our Education Committee, led by Kimberly Kirk. We are also teaming up with other associations and contractors to help further our reach to regional and national levels. With the additional help, I know we will make great progress.”

After navigating the last few tumultuous years with commitment and perseverance, this group is excited to roll out some fresh ideas to build up the industry in the Lowcountry. With their annual Planning Retreat already on the books, NAWIC Palmetto is well into setting a successful tone for the new year. The group is working on a schedule of rotating hard hat tours, business meetings, and social events, while staying grounded by their core values: Integrity, Inclusion, and Investment in the Future. NAWIC Palmetto is certain that the focus on these core values will create excellent programming that will be timely, relevant, and educational for all.

Allen went on to say, “I want to thank our prior year’s board; they have inspired me and helped me grow to be this year’s leader. Our current Board of Directors are dedicated to our core values, they are hard-working in all aspects, and passionate to our vision. We are a team and I have some of the best ladies on mine. I know this next year will be our best yet and for anyone interested in learning more about our group, please visit https://www.nawicpalmetto.org or email me at nawicpalmettosc@gmail.com.”
