Meet CACC’s Top Young Leaders for 2023
Carolinas AGC (CAGC) is excited to introduce the 2023 Top Young Leaders. The CAGC Top Young Leader Award recognizes those who play critical roles in the community and professional arenas of the construction industry. We believe it’s important to honor the achievements of our young leaders as the emergence of these individuals is critical to the future of CAGC and the members we serve. The winners were honored at the 2023 Carolinas AGC Summit & Expo in July.
John Anglin, Young & McQueen Grading Company
John Anglin, Business Manager with Young & McQueen Grading Company in Burnsville, NC, has nearly 20 years of experience in construction and development. With roles in finance, human resources, sales, marketing, and public utilities, he has fostered a broad perspective and deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing businesses. John is committed to helping Young & McQueen, its team members and customers achieve their goals and succeed in today’s ever-changing business landscape. John serves on several boards and committees including the High Country Workforce Development Board, Freedom Life Yancey (a reentry council for justice-involved individuals), CAGC Human Resource Committee, and is involved in the political process to see positive outcomes in his community. John has been an active member of the CAGC Young Leaders since 2016. In his free time, he enjoys spending family time with his wife Marie and their four children, supporting several nonprofits, attending and volunteering at his local church, smoking Carolina BBQ, and attending various UNC Tar Heel sporting events.
Paul Edwards, Reeves Construction Company
Paul Edwards serves as the Business Development Manager with Reeves (a Colas Company) out of Duncan, SC. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of South Carolina, he joined Sloan Construction Company (now Reeves) as a Project Engineer in estimating. He then progressed into Project Management, and later became the Area Manager in the Columbia office for Sloan, a role he held for seven years before transitioning to Business Development. Paul is a huge advocate for our industry and Carolinas AGC, taking every opportunity to share with others the importance of CAGC legislative efforts, and he’s always available to assist CAGC staff members when needed. Paul currently serves on the Young Leaders Action Team and the CAGC Board of Directors as the Young Leader representative. Paul and his wife Stacy have four children and live in Greer and attend church at Greenville ARP. In his spare time, he likes to watch his kids’ activities as well as play golf—and on Saturdays in the fall, you can usually find him at a South Carolina Gamecocks football game.
Emily Ellis, C.T. Wilson Construction
Emily Ellis received her Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from Elon University in 2007. In college, Emily was a Jefferson Pilot Business Fellow and worked as an intern at a local CPA firm where she continued full-time upon graduation. She was elevated quickly to Senior Accountant where her clients were primarily contractors in the Triangle area. Chuck Wilson invited Emily to join C.T. Wilson in early 2015 as Controller. By 2019 she was promoted to Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and just a few years later, Emily was elevated to Executive Vice President as second-in-command to third-generation owner Charlie Wilson. She is now responsible for leading the executive management team, which is comprised of departmental heads from Preconstruction, Project Operations, Field Operations, and Administration. This role provides critical support for Charlie’s position and visionary by creating the structure and processes necessary to make the vision a reality. Since taking on her new role, Emily has already filled the executive leadership team and has made noticeable improvements to the company’s organizational structure. Outside of work, Emily is active in her church and provides support for the local fire department and the Bahama Ruritan Club. Above all, she enjoys spending time with her husband Brian and two children.
Jeremiah McCrory, Batson-Cook Construction
Jeremiah McCrory began his career at Batson-Cook in Charlotte 12 years ago after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction and a Master’s in Integrated Design and Construction from Auburn University. Jeremiah began his career as a Project Engineer at a rotor testing facility for Mitsubishi in Savannah, GA. During his time with Batson-Cook, he has worked on projects totaling $606 million in value, including several commercial offices and high-rise multifamily projects throughout the Southeast, and recently completed a 41-story office building for Duke Energy. Jeremiah has been involved with the CAGC Young Leaders program since the beginning and never misses a Young Leaders event, CAGC Summit, or Convention. Jeremiah and his wife Rachel enjoy being parents to a “wild” toddler son, Oliver.
Adam Pfanmiller, McGriff
Adam Pfanmiller earned a degree in business administration from Appalachian State University in Finance and Risk Management and has more than 17 years of experience in the construction surety marketplace. For the last seven years, Adam has served as a broker at McGriff in Raleigh, NC. Adam, who is committed to constantly improving partnerships between contractors and their surety company, has been actively involved with the CAGC Young Leader program since 2015 and served as the Young Leader Chair in 2020 and 2021. He also served as the Young Leader Representative on the Carolinas AGC Board of Directors for those same two years. Adam is quick to assist CAGC staff when it comes to inviting members to CAGC events or discussing CAGC with potential members. He is also active in the Carolinas Surety Association (where he has served as past President), Construction Financial Management Association (where he currently serves as Triangle Chapter VP), and the National Association of Surety Bond Producers. In his spare time, Adam, his wife Megan, and their four children enjoy traveling, camping, snowboarding, mountain biking and wakeboarding.
