NAWIC Announces Establishment of Charleston Chapter, Officers and Board
North Charleston, S.C – A group of 42 new chapter members of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) gathered on July 26, 2018, at Charleston Electrical Contractors Association (CECA) in North Charleston for the organizational meeting of the Palmetto Chapter of SC #385.
The chapter elected the following Officers and Board of Directors:
President: Janet Bates, C.F. Evans Construction
President-Elect: Dannielle Minetti, Cullum Constructors, Inc.
Vice-President: Sharon Benzenberg, Knights Companies
Recording Secretary: Amanda Redick, Banks Construction Company
Corresponding Secretary: Marie Myers, Johnson Controls
Treasurer: Janice Toporek, Metro Electric Co.
Board of Directors: Mendi Arnold, Cullum Constructors, inc.; Candice Barnhart, BR’s Clearing & Grading; and Mary Beth Cline, S&ME.
The group’s first general membership meeting is slated to take place at September 25, 2018, (6:30pm) at CECA, 2230 Technical Parkway, North Charleston 29406. Next steps: A formal chartering ceremony will take place on August 28, 2018, when the NAWIC Palmetto Chapter of S..will officially join the South Atlantic Region. The time and location of the ceremony will be announced at a later date.
NAWIC’s core purpose is to enhance the success of Women in the Construction Industry. NAWIC is a professional association comprised of women working in construction and related industries in a variety of positions. There are many advantages to becoming a member: education, networking, leadership development, community outreach, construction programs, scholarships, mentoring and more.
