NAWIC to Host South Atlantic 2017 Fall Planning Conference in Greenville, SC
The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Greenville SC Chapter is pleased to announce they are hosting the annual NAWIC South Atlantic 2017 Fall Planning Conference.
Annual Fall Planning Conference is being held at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Greenville, SC, Friday, November 17 through Saturday, November 18.
For more than 60 years, NAWIC has helped women take advantage of the opportunities in construction. Whether you want to embark on a new career, establish a networking base, be a mentor/mentee, make a difference in your community, continue your education, or invest in great friendships, NAWIC offers a variety of opportunities — large and small.
“It is so important for women to be a part of an organization such as NAWIC. The sisterhood and support given by my chapter has helped each of us in a different way,” said Gina Martell with Building Management and Controls,Inc. “Whether it is members in my chapter or a member in Virginia, we are there for one another.”
About NAWIC
In 1953, women represented a small fraction of the construction industry. In order to promote the industry as a viable career for women and to enhance the careers of women within the industry, sixteen women in Fort Worth, Texas founded a non-profit organization known as Women in Construction. In 1955, the group received a National Charter and is now known as the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). NAWIC now spans across the United States and is represented in various countries throughout the World, with International Affiliates in Canada, the United Kingdom, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia. As NAWIC has grown, it’s purpose has evolved. Members have immediate access to an invaluable network of women in various stages of their careers. This network provides mentoring, professional development, education, and community outreach opportunities to further enhance the careers of women in the construction industry.
