NAWIC in the Carolinas: Celebrating WIC Week 2020
National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) chapters across the country – including the association’s 10 chapters in the Carolinas – have a wide range of special events and community initiatives planned for National Women in Construction (WIC) Week 2020.
WIC Week provides an occasion for NAWIC’s thousands of members across the country to raise awareness of the opportunities available for women in the construction industry and to emphasize the growing role of women in the industry. It is also a time for local chapters to give back to their communities. Community service projects, jobsite tours, membership drives, children’s activities, hands-on workshops, fundraisers and school programs are some of the ways local chapters will observe WIC Week. Local chapters are also appealing to their local, state and national representatives to issue official WIC Week proclamations.
To get a sense of the types of activities planned in our two-state area, check out what’s going on in Charleston by clicking here; see what’s happening in Charlotte by visiting their Events page; or download the Columbia chapter’s WIC Week flyer. Information on what other Carolinas chapters are doing can be found on their websites and social media platforms.
NAWIC’s 10 chapters in the Carolinas belong to NAWIC’S South Atlantic Region – one eight national regions for the association.

About NAWIC
The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) originally began as Women in Construction of Fort Worth, Texas in 1953. Sixteen women came together, knowing that women represented only a small fraction of the construction industry, and organized NAWIC to create a support network. Women in Construction of Fort Worth was so successful that it gained its national charter in 1955 and became the National Association of Women in Construction. Today, NAWIC provides its members with opportunities for professional development, education, networking, leadership training, public service and more.
