Previewing the ABC Carolinas Construction Convention
The ABC Carolinas (ABCC) Annual Construction Convention will take place at The Charleston Place in Charleston, SC, August 2-4, 2023. The Chapter’s 25th Anniversary will be front and center throughout the three-day event. The presenting sponsor is Milwaukee Tool. Keynote speakers include Jon Gordon, Anirban Basu and Karen Barefoot.
Kristen Powell, ABC Carolinas President and CEO noted, “The convention theme is ‘Building Success Together since 1998.’ As our 2023 ABC Carolinas Board Chair Chris Moore pointed out earlier this year, our Silver Anniversary presents an excellent opportunity to celebrate our roots in the merit shop philosophy, while strategically looking to the future. We have a great program planned for the convention with a mixture of engaging speakers, compelling content, fun socials and industry networking.”

After a long and successful career as a basketball player and coach, Karen Barefoot began a new career leading organizational development for a construction company. Karen will be a keynote speaker at the upcoming at ABC Carolinas’ Construction Convention. ABC Carolinas Graduates Electrical Apprentices
ABC Carolinas (ABCC), which is marking its 25th anniversary as an ABC chapter this year, celebrated their members’ 2023 Electrical Apprentices over the past two weeks with graduation ceremonies for the individuals enrolled in the chapter’s four-year Apprenticeship and Craft Training program. This year, ABC Carolinas graduated 31 electrical apprentices from Charlotte, and four from Raleigh, which is a 23 percent increase from last year’s graduating class. The graduates were able to bring their friends and families to celebrate at El Thrifty Social in Charlotte, and at Fullsteam Brewery in Raleigh.

Advance Concrete, an ABC Carolinas member based in the Triangle area of North Carolina, recently joined forces with Evolution Safety Resources, a leading workplace safety consulting firm that serves the construction sector and other industries from its Raleigh headquarters, to host a Safety Day Rodeo.
