Sherman Construction Receives ABC Eagle Award for Clemson’s Duckworth Family Tennis Facility
November 18, 2019, Greenville, S.C. – Sherman Construction was recently recognized with the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) highest-level award at the ABC Carolinas Excellence in Construction (EIC) gala in Charlotte, N.C. Taking home ABC’s coveted Eagle Award in the Higher Education category, Sherman Construction was honored for its transformation of the Clemson University Duckworth Family Tennis Facility.
“We are honored to be recognized for our role in the construction of the Clemson University Duckworth Family Tennis Facility. Despite many obstacles, including significant weather delays and a condensed 12-month schedule, our team was successful in overcoming these challenges and delivered a state-of-the-art tennis facility,” said Sherman Construction President Andy Sherman.
The Duckworth Family Tennis Facility, located in the center of Clemson University’s ever-growing campus, is a primary component of the University’s Hoke Sloan Tennis Center — home to the Tigers’ men’s and women’s tennis programs. Built 25 years ago, Clemson’s aging tennis center was inadequate on multiple levels. After careful consideration, Clemson opted for total replacement of the indoor tennis facility and associated operations building together with complete refurbishment of the outdoor areas. The new indoor facility is 45,000 SF with 6 brand new indoor courts and 12 outdoor courts (6 new, 6 replacement), as well as a new two-story clubhouse.
Sherman Construction has been providing preconstruction and construction services in a wide range of markets, including Higher Education, Multi-Family Housing, Athletics, General Commercial, Manufacturing and Healthcare for more than 70 years.
