Sherman to Build Clemson Dockside Mixed-Use, Student Housing Development

by GroundBreak Staff Report on June 15, 2020

CLEMSON, S.C. (June 1, 2020) – Clemson Dockside, LP announced today that it has selected Sherman Construction as the general contractor for the multifamily student housing development located at 894 Tiger Boulevard in Clemson, S.C. The project is set to break ground this summer.

The mixed-use development will feature 200 apartment homes, 755 parking spaces and 20,000 sf of restaurants and retailers along Tiger Boulevard and Lake Hartwell. The project will have a double-walled pool area with walls extended 20-feet high to keep noise pollution down for the neighborhood residents. The lakefront will incorporate a public green space along with three public art installations.

“Sherman Construction is thrilled to be a part of this project,” commented Andy Sherman, president, Sherman Construction.  “We are honored that Fountain Residential Partners has entrusted us on their important project in the Clemson community.  This first-of-its-kind mixed-use lakefront development will be an amazing project and will be a great enhancement for the Clemson community.”

Brent Little, President of Fountain Residential Partners said, “We are very pleased with our selection of Sherman Construction.  It was important for us to find the right local partner to lead our construction efforts on this important project.  Sherman’s experience in Multifamily combined with their knowledge and relationships in the Clemson area, they are without a doubt the right company for our project.”

Dockside is currently soliciting local and regional restaurants and businesses for leases in the new space. With over 25,000 cars per day traveling Highway 123 along restaurant row, this presents a unique opportunity for the recently struggling businesses of the area.

Sherman Construction has been providing preconstruction and construction services in a wide range of markets, including Higher Education, Multi-Family Housing, Athletics, General Commercial, Manufacturing and Healthcare for more than 70 years.
