Silvi Cement Expands Cementitious Materials Distribution with Two New Terminals

by GroundBreak Carolinas Staff on October 10, 2025

Silvi Cement, a division of Silvi Materials, today announced a major expansion of its cementitious materials distribution network, strengthening its position as one of the most reliable suppliers of high-quality construction materials in the Eastern United States.

Silvi has officially opened a temporary cement rail load-out facility at the deep-water port of Morehead City, North Carolina, now fully operational and available for pickup and delivery. In addition, construction is underway on a new cement import terminal at the port, scheduled to open in 2027. The forthcoming terminal will include two 100,000-ton domes for Type I/II low-alkali cement and Grade 120 slag, with 24/7 truck loading and direct rail loadout capabilities. This expansion marks an important milestone in Silvi’s continued investment in the Southeast.

Silvi is also developing a large-scale, rail-served cement distribution facility in Central Ohio, expected to open in spring 2026. Designed to handle over 250,000 tons per year, the terminal will distribute Type I/II low-alkali cement and Grade 120 slag with round-the-clock loading capacity, supporting growing demand across the Midwest.

Until completion of the new domes in Morehead City, both terminals will be supplied by rail from Silvi’s flagship cement terminal in Bristol, Pennsylvania—one of the largest cement import terminals in North America, featuring three domes with a total capacity of 165,000 metric tons.

With 40 years of experience in cement distribution, Silvi Materials continues to expand its network to deliver cement of the highest quality. Imported from leading global suppliers, Silvi’s type I/II cement is naturally low in total alkalis and processed to exact specifications by utilizing some of the newest and most advanced cement plant equipment in the world. The result is cement with superior strength and faster set times, ensuring reliable performance across demanding applications, including high-rise, highway, and warehouse construction.

“Our geographic expansion represents the next step in Silvi Materials’ long-term growth strategy,” said Laurence J. Silvi II, Co-President of Silvi Materials. “From our acquisition of Eagle Rock Concrete in North Carolina to the opening of these new terminals, every move we make is focused on providing our partners with the highest-quality materials, delivered with the reliability Silvi is known for.”

Founded in 1947 and headquartered in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania, Silvi Materials is a vertically integrated company in the ready-mix concrete, sand mining, stone mining, cement, and slag business.
