Site Selectors Guild Fall Event Held in Greenville, SC

by GroundBreak Carolinas Staff on September 6, 2018

Conference attracts top location consultants and economic developers

The Site Selectors Guild (SSG), the association of the world’s leading corporate location advisors, will hold its 2018 Fall Forum in Greenville, S.C., from September 10 – 12. The Forum will bring economic developers and site selection consultants from around the globe to the Hyatt Regency Greenville. The South Carolina Department of Commerce is hosting the 2018 Fall Forum.

“Greenville is one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S., thanks in part to major infrastructure investments and a revitalized downtown,” said Robert M. Hitt, III, Secretary of Commerce for South Carolina. “We’re very proud to host the Site Selectors Guild Fall Forum and to showcase the wonderful economic and business development opportunities throughout Greenville and upstate South Carolina.”

The purpose of the Fall Forum is knowledge sharing and an interactive exchange of ideas through discussion panels, breakout sessions and networking. Registration is limited to 196 economic development professionals; in addition, 22 Site Selectors Guild members will attend the event. The theme for the conference is the risk of complacency.

“The Fall Forum is about bringing Guild members and economic developers together to make connections, share ideas and learn from one another,” said Site Selectors Guild board chair Didi Caldwell. “And as a resident of Greenville, I look forward to introducing the city and the region to site selectors and economic developers from all over the U.S.”

In addition to networking with Guild members, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in breakout sessions about important site-selection factors, including labor and talent, economic incentives, infrastructure, social issues and global competition.

The Guild will also present a $5,000 donation to the United Way of Greenville County as part of the 2018 Fall Forum. Outside of the Forum, Guild members will have the opportunity to tour the city, meet with area businesses and sample the local cuisine.

About The Site Selectors Guild
The Site Selectors Guild (SSG) is a professional association comprised of the world’s leading corporate location advisory consultants to companies looking to build or expand. The mission of SSG is to advance the profession of corporate location strategy by raising awareness of the value professional location strategy and site selection services create for corporations. Professional site selectors often serve as a barometer for the overall economy – when companies are growing and expanding, they turn to site selectors for location advisory assistance. If projects slow down or stop coming in to site selectors, it is an early indicator that business may be headed for a downturn.

Guild members are also committed to sharing thought leadership and best practices, developing and nurturing relationships between SSG members, economic development organizations and corporate stakeholders, and contributing to policy discussions that affect location strategy and the future of the profession.

All members of SSG have been nominated and approved by their industry peers. As the first and only group of its kind, SSG brings together a dynamic network of site selectors from around the world, combining their talent and expertise to create an invaluable, top quality resource for both corporations seeking site selection assistance and economic development organizations.
