Spotlight on FLEX Program: Future Leaders Initiative

ABC Carolinas Chapter Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) program is designed for young professionals under the age of 40 who are employed by an ABC member company in good standing. FLEX, operating in all seven of ABC Carolinas Councils, provides the opportunity for members to network and build relationships with other individuals who are at the same place in their careers. These relationships will be integral as individuals progress within the industry and their careers. FLEX also allows for expansive industry exposure and opportunities for community involvement.

In the 2023 calendar year, ABCC has held six educational events, two site tours, and 10 socials. These events have allowed their FLEX members to see new and innovative project jobsites that other member companies are building, learn about recent technology that has been created to benefit the construction industry, and grow their interpersonal skills with public speaking courses. ABCC’s mission is to give our members’ best and brightest leaders an opportunity to network with their peers, learn from past and present leaders in our industries, and grow into great leaders themselves. 

ABCC’s FLEX liaisons, Kristen DeBerry and Abby Yerkovich, have been working closely with their FLEX Steering Committee, led by Andy Abrhams with Swinterton, and ABCC’s Board of Directors to make the 2024 FLEX Program even better. They have some great events coming up this next year to help develop the professional and social skills of ABCC’s emerging leaders. ABCC’s 2024 calendar year will be focused on developing the next generation, and this will stem from the FLEX program.

To make they can better serve their membership across the Carolinas, ABCC will be focusing on three regions: Charlotte, Triangle, and South Carolina. As FLEX continues to grow in these three regions, they will then expand to all seven of their Councils.
