Stewart Welcomes David Amalong as Studio Leader to Landscape Architecture Practice

by GroundBreak Staff Report on October 26, 2020

RALEIGH, N.C. – Stewart, an interdisciplinary design, engineering and planning firm, announced today David Amalong, PLA, LEED AP®, is joining its landscape architecture practice as studio leader.

“Leveraging his knowledge and more than 30 years of experience on a broad range of domestic and international projects, David has a history of creating spaces and places that serve more than mere purpose or beauty – they are actively enjoyed,” said Michael Batts, vice president and practice leader of landscape architecture at Stewart. “David’s experience as a proven strong leader and collaborator within interdisciplinary design teams makes him an ideal fit among our passionate collective of landscape architects who collaborate with other practice areas to ensure a fully integrated and responsive design strategy.”

Amalong is based out of Stewart’s Charlotte office, managing and collaborating with landscape architecture team members in Raleigh and across the firm’s footprint as studio leader.

A registered landscape architect and urban designer with more than 30 years of experience, Amalong recently was a national design leader and the Southeast regional leader of landscape architecture for an international design firm. His work has received dozens of awards and recognitions and can be found across the U.S. and internationally, including China and the Middle East.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in landscape architecture from The Pennsylvania State University and is a LEED AP®. Involved in the advancement of the industry, Amalong is an active member of Urban Land Institute and American Society of Landscape Architects.
