Structura Announces Acquisition of Fitzpatrick Engineering Group

by Helen Johnson on April 2, 2024

The merger expands the firm’s Charlotte presence & their expertise in the healthcare, commercial, & industrial markets.

Structura,Inc., a consulting structural engineering firm with offices in Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina, proudly announces the acquisition of Fitzpatrick Engineering Group (FEG), a Charlotte-based structural engineering firm specializing in the healthcare, commercial, and industrial sectors. After opening a Charlotte office in 2023 led by Principal Ryan Sarazen, PE, and the recent acquisitions of Alexandria, VA-based Theobald Bufano and Associates, and Springfield, VA-based Mesen Associates, merging with FEG marks another significant milestone in Structura’s history, further augmenting their capabilities and expanding their presence in the Carolinas.

Structura’s culture of innovation, client focus, and technical excellence is mirrored in FEG, whose commitment to quality and client satisfaction aligns seamlessly with Structura’s values. The merger is a strategic enhancement of their collective capabilities, bringing together an experienced and talented team of engineers dedicated to delivering outstanding service to their clients. By joining forces with FEG, Structura is expanding their operational landscape, bringing their BIM-centric, forward-thinking tools and practices to a wider range of clientele and project typologies.

“We knew right away after meeting Doug Fitzpatrick (President and Founder of FEG) that our firms were culturally aligned and that we would only get better by combining our efforts. We both operate under the same guiding principles: to produce exceptional engineering services for our clients and to provide the best working environment possible for our employees. It really is a win all around,” stated Mark Erdman, PE, Senior Principal of Structura.

“We found a great partner in Doug. The synergy between our firms is unmistakable, and we’re very excited about the benefits this merger will bring to both our clients and staff,” echoed Jason Dreher, PE, Senior Principal of Structura.

In addition to enhancing client service, the merger is a testament to Structura’s and FEG’s shared commitment to broadening opportunities for their employees. By bringing together the best of both firms, they are creating a work environment that nurtures innovation, supports professional development, and champions technical excellence. “I knew from my first conversation with Mark that our firms could only be stronger together – the critical components of a successful structural engineering firm were in alignment from our commitment to client goals, dedication to engineering excellence, and employee value. Everyone at FEG is excited about the future of our combined firm”, Doug Fitzpatrick, PE stated.

Structura and FEG are committed to a seamless merger, and together look forward to providing uninterrupted, unparalleled service across all projects and market sectors. For more information about Structura, Inc. and their comprehensive range of services, please visit structura-inc.com.
