Two at CarolinaPower Earn NCCER Instructor Certification for Teaching Electrical Apprenticeship Curriculum

by GroundBreak Carolinas Staff on August 8, 2025

CarolinaPower’s Bradley Michie, Columbia (S.C.) Branch Manager, and Cordiro Harrison, Assistant Project Manager, are now certified to teach electrical apprenticeship classes using curriculum developed by NCCER – including Craft, Safety, and/or Management Training.

In the Midlands region, electrical apprenticeship education partners with whom CarolinaPower is closely aligned include: Lexington Technology Center (LTC), a career and technical education program serving high school students in Lexington County School District One; and Lexington Two Innovation Center (L2IC) in Cayce, SC, a vocational school offering an Electricity (Architecture & Construction) program designed to prepare students for entry-level employment as an electrician and electrician helper or in related occupations.

Registered with the S.C. Department of Labor, CarolinaPower’s comprehensive four-year electrical apprenticeship program teaches the skills for both construction and maintenance electricians. The program provides a combination of classroom, laboratory, and live work experiences. Apprentices work full-time during the day and attend classes several evenings per week. Graduates receive nationally recognized credentials from NCCER along with a certificate from their educational institution.

CarolinaPower proudly offers “earn-while-you-learn” electrical construction apprenticeships at all four locations in South Carolina. In Columbia, CarolinaPower’s apprenticeship program is administered by the Columbia Electric Council. In Greenville, apprentices attend classes through the ABC Carolinas Upstate Electrical Apprenticeship program, a partnership among six regional electrical contractors, and classes meet at Greenville Technical College.  The Charleston office’s program is administered by the Charleston Electrical Contractors Association (CECA), with Trident Technical College as education partner.  The North Augusta (S.C.) program is administered by IEC Georgia, a non-profit trade organization serving independent, non-union contractors in that state.

About CarolinaPower — CarolinaPower is a leading regional electrical contractor serving industrial, commercial, healthcare and federal market sectors in South Carolina and North Carolina. CarolinaPower has a total of four offices across South Carolina – Greenville, Columbia, Charleston, and North Augusta – with plans for opening additional offices in North Carolina. CarolinaPower has been named one of the Best Places to Work in South Carolina for eight consecutive years. To learn more, visit www.carolinapower.com.
