CarolinaPower Sponsors “Lace Up for Lydia” 5K to Help Cancer Patients
CarolinaPower was a proud sponsor of the 2019 Lace Up for Lydia 5k Road Race in Augusta, Ga. on Saturday, April 20. The event benefited The Lydia Project, a non-profit that provides supportive and financial assistance for cancer patients in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) of Georgia and South Carolina. The race started and finished on the Doctors Hospital campus where CarolinaPower is providing electrical contracting services for an expansion of the hospital’s well-known burn center.
Shelby Knostman project manager in CarolinaPower’s North Augusta (S.C.) office, coordinated the company’s involvement in this important community event. “It’s so rewarding to know that we are helping keep services free for individuals coping with cancer. We have been told that CarolinaPower’s level of sponsorship will provide 160 transportation trips for area men and women needing cancer treatment,” said Knostman.
In addition to CarolinaPower being a high-level sponsor, the company had representation in the race. Knostman participated along with Jillian Dillon, friend of CarolinaPower, and Kyle Sease, 18, son of Mike Sease, Business Development Manager, who was in attendance. Kyle won the Male Overall division.
The Lydia Project is named for Lydia, who appears just briefly in the Bible. (Acts 16: 14-15). She was a successful businesswoman in the trade of purple cloth. Using her gifts, Lydia extended a hand to those in need. In the same way, Lydia’s purple-handled totes include a network of support and are monogrammed with “faith” “hope” or “love,” ensuring women and their families are not alone during such a devastating time.
