CarolinaPower Wins ABC’s “Best in Class” Excellence in Construction Award, Also Named a 2024 Project-of-the-Year Finalist for Clemson Stadium Project
CarolinaPower, a leading employee-owned, regional electrical contractor with four offices in South Carolina, was singled out for its exemplary work on Clemson University’s two-phase Memorial Stadium Renovations project during the Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas’ (ABC Carolinas) Annual Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards gala held in Charlotte on November 7, 2024. CarolinaPower won the “Best in Class” EIC Award, receiving ABC’s highest-level award — the Eagle Award — in the category, Specialty Contracting/Electrical, $2 million -$5 million. CarolinaPower’s project was also one of three finalists for the 2024 Carolinas Project of the Year.
“We are honored to be recognized by our peers for our role in delivering the electrical scope of this incredibly important project on the Clemson campus,” said Chris Moore, President of Carolina Power. “CarolinaPower worked with the entire project team to meet a tight 9-month schedule on each phase despite unprecedented equipment delays caused by the COVID pandemic and other significant challenges.”
Phase One of Clemson University’s Memorial Stadium project called for a major renovation of the football stadium and build-out of the Masters Club on Clemson’s main campus. This work included additional premium seating and club spaces, fan experience upgrades, ADA accessibility and seating, renovations to the West End Zone, and a new video board – ranked the eighth largest video board in the nation. Phase Two required a complete gut and renovation of the Tigers’ locker room and updates to the training, coaching, and officials’ game day spaces. The overhaul of Lot 5, located directly behind the West End Zone complex, enhanced the Tiger Walk experience for the team and fans alike.
CarolinaPower Vice President Travis Oswald noted, “Not only was this a high-profile project, but we were also working with three distinct and important customers at the same time: Brasfield & Gorrie on the video board and locker room scope; Thompson Turner on the Masters Club, Lot 5, and Tiger Walk scope; and Clemson University directly on multiple small projects throughout the stadium and on the field.”
ABC Carolinas’ Annual EIC Awards competition is open to general contractors and specialty contractors in the two-state region. Having won at the Carolinas chapter level, CarolinaPower became eligible to compete in ABC’s National EIC Awards for which winners will be announced at ABC’s annual conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, in February 2025.
