CarolinaPower Wins ABC’s “Best in Class” National Eagle Award for Clemson’s Allen N. Reeves Football Operations Center
CarolinaPower, a leading Carolinas-based electrical contractor with four offices in South Carolina, was recognized nationally by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) for its exemplary performance as electrical contractor for Clemson University’s Allen N. Reeves Football Operations Center. CarolinaPower won ABC’s Eagle Award – the highest-level award – in the category, Specialty Contracting/Electrical, $2-$10 million. The award was presented at ABC’s 27th annual Excellence in Construction (EIC) gala in Long Beach, California, on March 21, 2018.
CarolinaPower qualified for ABC’s national competition by winning an Eagle Award at the ABC Carolinas chapter level last November. CarolinaPower was also a finalist for 2017 Carolinas Project of the Year.
Chris Moore, Carolina Power Vice President and General Manager, said, “It has been a great honor for us to be recognized nationally, regionally and locally for our part in the construction of Clemson’s world-class football operations complex,” said Moore. “One thing that sets this project apart is the fact that it was in the national spotlight during construction. As the Clemson Tigers continued to win games in the 2016 season, project attention increased significantly. This put even more pressure on our team to meet what was already a tight schedule.”
Clemson alumnus Travis Oswald served as CarolinaPower’s project executive. “Winning this national award is extra special for me as a graduate of Clemson’s Electrical Engineering (EE) and Business Administration (MBA) programs. On behalf of CarolinaPower, I want to thank Clemson University, DPR-Sherman – the general contractor, and RMF Engineering – the electrical engineer, for giving us the opportunity to be part of an amazing construction team on this incredible project. Go Tigers!,” said Oswald.
National winners were selected from hundreds of entries submitted from across the country. They were judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges overcome, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety and cost. A panel of industry experts served as judges.
“The skill and expertise of our craftsmen are evident to all who visit the completed facility,” said Moore. “Winning an award like this instills a feeling of pride and purpose among employees company-wide.”
