CarolinaPower wins ABC Carolinas’ Eagle Award for High-Profile Clemson Football Complex
Greer, S.C. — CarolinaPower, a leading electrical contractor based in Upstate S.C., was recently recognized with the 2017 “Best in Class” Excellence in Construction (EIC) Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of the Carolinas. CarolinaPower was singled out for its exemplary work on Clemson University’s new Allen N. Reeves Football Complex which opened earlier this year in time to accommodate National Signing Day on February 1. CarolinaPower received ABC’s highest-level award — the Eagle Award — in the category, Specialty Contracting/Electrical, $2 million -$5 million. CarolinaPower received this prestigious award during ABC’s 16th Annual Excellence in Construction Awards banquet on November 16, 2017, at the Hilton Charlotte Center City in Charlotte, N.C. The project was also a finalist for the 2017 Carolinas Project of the Year.
“We are honored to be recognized by our peers for our role in the construction of Clemson’s world-class football operations complex,” said Chris Moore, Carolina Power Vice President and General Manager. “The fact that this project was in the national spotlight during construction brought unique challenges for our team. As the Clemson Tigers’ wins accumulated during the 2016 season, project attention increased significantly, adding even more pressure to stay on what was already a tight schedule. What makes us especially proud is the skill and expertise of our craftsmen, which is evident to all who visit the completed facility.”
About the Project — Designed to support the day-to-day activities of players, coaches and staff, the $55 million Allen N. Reeves Football complex houses a state-of-the-art dining facility, position meeting rooms, team meeting room, coaches’ offices, video editing area, and a sports medicine area that includes four hydrotherapy pools and an x-ray room. Facility highlights include the largest football-only weight room in the country, a best-in-class players’ locker room, and a players’ lounge equipped with pool tables, ping pong tables, and a two-lane bowling alley. Outdoor amenities support activities such as putt-putt golf, basketball, wiffle ball, and volleyball. The project is pending LEED Silver certification.
