SeamonWhiteside’s Taylor Critcher to Lead Landscape Architecture Practice across the Carolinas
SeamonWhiteside (SW+), a full-service site design firm with offices throughout the Carolinas, today announced the promotion of Taylor Critcher to director of landscape architecture services to oversee the firm’s landscape architecture practice. In this position, Critcher will help elevate design excellence across SW+’s offices while strengthening collaboration between landscape architecture, civil engineering, water resources, and planning teams.
As the Carolinas experience record-breaking urban expansion, Critcher’s appointment ensures that SW+’s design response remains cohesive and balances development.
Critcher’s promotion reflects SW+’s continued investment in leadership and its long-term vision for creating resilient, community-centered spaces throughout the Southeast. The role also reinforces the firm’s commitment to developing talent from within and supporting the next generation of landscape architects.
Many employees and clients across the Carolinas have worked directly with Critcher over the years and trust his leadership and collaborative approach. In his new role, he will focus on strengthening design culture across offices, elevating technical excellence, and creating clear growth opportunities for emerging professionals within the firm.
“As part of our commitment to elevating the Landscape Architecture Department, this role provides greater alignment across the department and strengthens mentorship opportunities as we continue to grow and serve our communities and clients,” said Russ Seamon, president of SeamonWhiteside. “Taylor brings a solid understanding of our design philosophy and a passion for collaboration. His leadership will help ensure our teams continue delivering thoughtful, creative, and community-focused spaces across the Southeast.”
Critcher’s cross-office experience will also enhance SW+’s ability to deliver consistent, high-quality design solutions rooted in both local context and regional insight. By strengthening inter-disciplinary collaboration, the firm aims to deliver more cohesive projects that balance aesthetics, functionality, and long-term resilience.
For clients, this approach means a more integrated project delivery. Landscape architecture will continue to work closely with civil engineering, water resources, surveying, and planning teams, allowing SW+ to develop solutions that simultaneously address environmental conditions, infrastructure needs, and community character.
Looking ahead, Critcher will also help guide SW+’s community engagement and philanthropic efforts. His leadership will encourage teams to listen closely to community stakeholders and design spaces that reflect local identity while supporting long-term environmental stewardship.
The promotion also reflects SW+’s commitment to investing in its people. With more than 200 employees across multiple offices, the firm prioritizes mentorship, professional development, and internal advancement as key components of its culture.
